Neopets and MumboJumbo Team Up to Bring New Codestone Quest Game to Audiences Everywhere
LOS ANGELES and DALLAS – September 11, 2007 – Neopets, the world’s original virtual world and casual gaming community for tweens and teens, and MumboJumbo, a leading developer and publisher of premium casual games, today announce the launch of a brand-new downloadable Neopets game, Neopets: Codestone Quest. Offering the more than 40 million Neopets members registered worldwide the perfect match-three puzzle experience, beginning this week, Codestone Quest is available for download at top gaming sites worldwide including www.mumbojumbo.com and Nickelodeon’s paid downloadable games website www.nickarcade.com (Nick Arcade). The game will also be available in the coming weeks on Neopets.com and leading gaming portals worldwide.
Neopets: Codestone Quest, available for PCs, maintains a MSRP of $19.99 and an ESRB rating of ‘E’ for Everyone, and will also be available at U.S. retailers nationwide September 25th.
“As we continue to expand Neopets, the original online youth-oriented virtual world, to multiple platforms, this PC casual game is an exciting new extension of the popular Neopets gaming activities on the site,” said Kyra Reppen, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Neopets. “Neopets: Codestone Quest further expands the Neopian virtual world themes that Neopets fans have come to know and love.”
“We were thrilled to be partnering with Neopets to adapt their popular entertainment property into a new casual game for this expanding market,” said Matt Lichtenwalter, VP of Product Development for MumboJumbo. “Codestone Quest offers a perfect blend of challenging and fun match-three puzzle gameplay that we feel will be welcomed by fans everywhere.”
“We’re excited to be working with MumboJumbo on this new Neopets venture,” added Shaul Olmert, Vice President of Digital Products for Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group. “Our partnership with MumboJumbo has been very successful with releases like Charlotte’s Web: Word Rescue, so we look forward to continuing this with Neopets.”
The launch of Neopets: Codestone Quest is part of MTV Networks’ Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group commitment to invest $100 million over the next two years in development, distribution and creation of casual gaming titles, sites and platforms. As part of MTV Networks’ global vertical entertainment strategy, the company plans to invest more than $500 million over the next two years in the development and distribution of its gaming business across its global portfolio.
In Neopets: Codestone Quest, players embark on a new Neopian adventure in the role of a heroic Neopet caught in the middle of a battle between Balthazar and the faeries. Playing as either a Kacheek or Blumaroo character, players must stop Balthazar in his evil quest to capture all the faeries. Players strategically launch colored faeries towards moving processions of jars in order to break them open and free the faeries trapped inside. When gamers make certain color match combinations, they receive powerful faerie magic and can call upon Petpets, such as Snowickles, Blurtles, Turmacs and Baby Fireballs to assist in the mission. As a bonus, players can collect falling dubloons to purchase Petpets and earn extra lives in the shop.
With more than 40 million global memberships registered, Neopets is the largest global youth-focused virtual world. On Neopets, players create a Neopet to be their companion that they can dress and take care of while exploring the fantasy world of Neopia, rich with 54 species of Neopets, 16 lands and hundreds of characters, stories and plotlines. With more than 200 games, an active virtual economy based on Neopoints, daily and weekly creativity contests, the Neovision video player, discussion boards, quests and thousands of virtual items to collect, Neopets offers its audience an almost endless array of engaging activities. Neopets is a global community, available in 11 languages, reaching nearly 12 million monthly unique visitors and logs nearly 300 million monthly game plays.
Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group and MumboJumbo teamed up earlier this year to develop the popular word game, Charlotte’s Web: Word Rescue that brought to life the timelessly lovable characters of E.B. White’s story of loyalty and companionship in a creative and challenging word puzzle game. The game received high acclaim and success across gaming sites worldwide.
